Compatibility of Frame Types with Different Architraves
Z-Frame and Architraves
The Z-frame is designed to fit within the window recess, featuring a 19mm lip that overlaps the architrave. This frame type complements Square or Bullnose architraves, wells, and windows with a square set finish. However, for windows with Decorative architraves, the Z-frame may obscure part of the ornamental trim, so it might be less ideal if you wish to showcase the full detail of the architrave.
Inside L-Frame and Architraves
The Inside L-frame is positioned inside the window recess and is versatile enough to accompany any architrave style. It is especially suited for Decorative architraves as it allows the entire trim to remain visible, not concealing any ornate features.
Outside L-Frame and Architraves
The Outside L-frame is mounted onto the architrave and requires a flat surface of at least 38.1mm for proper installation. This frame can adapt to any architrave, but if your architrave is Decorative, you'll need to ensure an adequate flat area at the centre for the frame to attach. Measuring for an Outside L-frame on a Decorative architrave may differ from standard measuring techniques due to the intricate trim work.
