Choose Your Window Basics:

Customizing the width of your shutter panels allows for a tailored fit and personalized aesthetic. To ensure accuracy and the best results, specific measurements are required.

Measurement Guidelines:

  • Detailed Measurements: You do not need to measure each panel individually. Instead, please provide the measurements to the center of each T-Post based on the layout you select. Panels between T-Posts will be evenly distributed to ensure a balanced look and proper functionality.
  • Panel Width Limit: While customizing, ensure that the total width of the shutters does not exceed 900 millimeters per panel.
  • Design Consistency: We recommend that the placement of T-Posts aligns with the vertical elements of your window for a harmonious appearance. If you select 'Yes' for even distribution, we will ensure that all panels are evenly spaced across the window.
  • Starting Points for Measurement: Begin each measurement from the far left. For an inside mount, start from the inside of the recess; for an outside mount with an architrave, start from the edge of the architrave; for an outside mount with no architrave, start from the edge of your window. Measure to the center of each designated T-Post location.

Verification Tips:

To ensure precision:

  • Have a friend or family member verify your measurements to avoid any potential errors.
  • Measure twice to ensure accuracy before finalizing your order.

Name Your Window:

Giving each of your windows a meaningful name is highly recommended to facilitate easy identification and organization throughout the ordering, delivery, and installation processes. This is particularly useful when you are managing multiple windows or ordering multiple shutters.

Why It's Important:

Each window's name serves as a unique reference. Once your shutters are manufactured, they are packaged in flat packs labeled according to the window name. When these packages are delivered to your doorstep and you begin the installation process, these names become essential. For instance, a window named "Main Bedroom-01" will have its packages labeled as "Main Bedroom-01 1/3", "Main Bedroom-01 2/3", and "Main Bedroom-01 3/3", indicating each part of a three-part set.

Example Naming Conventions:

To avoid confusion and ensure a smooth installation, consider the following naming conventions:

  • Main Bedroom-01/02/03 or MB-01/02/03 for sequential windows in the same room.
  • Use concise yet descriptive names that relate directly to the location or function of the window, such as "Kitchen-Sink Window" or "Front Door Side Light".

By systematically naming your windows, you streamline the unpacking and installation process, making it easier to match each shutter with its corresponding window.

What size is your window?

Properly measuring your window size is crucial for ensuring that your shutters fit perfectly and function as intended. In this section, you need to provide the width and the drop (height) of your window in millimeters.

Width and Drop:

Enter the width (horizontal measurement) and the drop (vertical measurement) of your window within the specified range:

  • Width: 200mm to 4000mm
  • Drop: 200mm to 4000mm

Measurement Tips:

To ensure accuracy:

  • Measure each window at three places for both width and drop: the top, middle, and bottom for width; and both sides and the middle for drop.
  • Use the smallest measurement to ensure the shutters fit within the window space.
  • Consider any obstructions like handles or mullions that might impact the shutter installation.

Accurate measurements are not only important for the aesthetics but also for the operational functionality of your shutters. For detailed guidance on how to measure your windows correctly, please refer to our detailed measurement guide.

Fitting Type?

Choosing the right fitting type is crucial for the installation and appearance of your shutters. The fitting type determines how the shutters will be mounted in relation to your window frame. Each type has its benefits and is suited to different window setups.

Options Explained:

  • Face Fit (Outside Mount): The shutters are installed on the outer part of the window frame or on the wall around the window. This option is ideal if your window does not have enough depth to accommodate an inside mount or if you want to cover the window trim for aesthetic reasons. It also helps to block out more light and offers enhanced privacy.
  • Recess Fit (Inside Mount): The shutters are installed inside the recess of the window frame. This fitting is preferred for a clean and integrated look, as it aligns seamlessly with the window. It is essential that the window recess has sufficient depth to hold the shutters. This type maximizes the exposure of the window trim and is often chosen for its sleek, modern appearance.

Considerations:

When choosing your fitting type, consider the following:

  • The depth of your window recess.
  • Desired light control and privacy levels.
  • The overall aesthetic you wish to achieve.
  • Any obstructions that might affect the shutter's operation, such as window handles or locks.

Lead Time:

Lead time refers to the estimated time from when you place your order to when your shutters are shipped from our warehouse. Choosing the right lead time helps you align with your project’s timeline and budget considerations.

Available Options:

  • 8-10 Weeks: This more cost-effective option involves sourcing your shutters internationally. It allows for a diverse range of materials including PVC, Basswood, and Aluminium. This is suitable if you are looking for a budget-friendly option and your project timeline is flexible.
  • 2-3 Weeks: Though more expensive, this option supports local manufacturing. It uses the same range of materials but prioritizes rapid production and shipping. Choosing this faster lead time contributes to local job creation and economic growth, making it an excellent choice if you wish to support local industry and have an urgent need for your shutters.

Considerations:

When selecting the lead time, consider the following:

  • The urgency of your project and how quickly you need the shutters.
  • Your budget and preference for supporting local manufacturing.
  • The potential impact of your choice on local job opportunities and economic growth.

Louver Size?

Choosing the right louver size is primarily a matter of personal preference and the aesthetic impact you want to achieve in your space. Louvers, or the horizontal slats in your shutters, vary in size and can significantly influence the look and amount of light entering the room.

Available Options:

  • 64mm: Smaller louvers offer a traditional appearance and are suitable for smaller windows or spaces where more detailed control over light and privacy is desired.
  • 89mm: This is the most popular louver size, providing a good balance between privacy, light control, and aesthetics. It's versatile and fits well in most standard-sized windows.

Features:

All our louvered blades are reinforced with a strong aluminium rod insert, enhancing their durability and maintaining alignment over time.

Considerations:

When selecting the louver size, consider the following:

  • The scale of your windows relative to the room.
  • The desired balance between privacy and natural light.
  • The overall design aesthetic of your home.

The choice of louver size affects not just functionality but also contributes to the interior design of your space. For more details on how to choose the best louver size for your needs, please refer to our comprehensive guide on shutter designs.
